Faithful Family"Mr. Larry Poncho Brown introduced the Raising The Arts project to the First Church of God Christian Life Center as a fund raising endeavor that started out as a “project” and transformed our congregation into a single minded entity. The image that Poncho created for our congregation is entitled “Faithful Family”. This image is a perfect reflection of what our congregation aspires to be. The original hangs in our sanctuary and the limited edition prints are in the homes of our members and friends.

Raising The Arts is not just about another fund raising project for your organization. Raising The Arts became a mobilizing vehicle for our organization to reach goals far beyond our expectations. Raising The Arts helped us to appreciate the gift of beauty that God gave us all to share. Raising The Arts introduced us to new possibilities. It encouraged us to think outside the box and search the realm of our imagination!

On behalf of the First Church of God Christian Life Center we extend our heartfelt appreciation to Mr. Brown for sharing his gifts with us".

Street Songs"It’s a privilege to work with Larry “Poncho” Brown, a distinguished world class artist. I have worked with Poncho over the past four years on two of the largest festivals produced in the Richmond, Virginia area. The 2nd Street Festival, a celebration of African-American life during the early 20th century, when 2nd Street in the Jackson Ward area of Richmond was known as “Little Harlem” or “The Harlem of the South.” Poncho has been commissioned to produce the highly successful official 2nd Street poster since 2007.

It’s been a joy working with Poncho on the creation of the posters. On the eve of festival, Poncho has graciously arrived early to unveil his latest creation at a pre-festival reception where he connects with old friends and meets new admirers. Every year festival goers are excited about Poncho’s return and know they can find him at the corner of 2nd & Clay Streets. Recently Poncho has excited 165,000 attendees of the Richmond Folk Festival, which celebrates the roots, richness and variety of American culture through music, dance, traditional craft, arts and food, with his unique and bold paintings and ceramics. I look forward to working with Poncho on future posters and his presence at Venture Richmond festivals."
